Lost your pet!

If you have lost a pet
, we advise that you please call all of the shelters in your area. They can tell you over the phone if they have an animal that fits your description, but it is best to visit them and see if you can identify your pet. These shelters we suggest you contact are as follows:
  • Manatee County Animal Services - (941) 742-5933 is located at 305 25th Street West, in Palmetto.
  • Sarasota County Animal Services - (941) 861-9500 is located at 5407 Pinkney Avenue, in Sarasota.
  • Humane Society of Manatee County - (941) 747-8808 is located at 2515 14th Street West, in Bradenton.
  • Humane Society of Sarasota County - (941) 955-4131 is located at 2331 15th Street, in Sarasota.
  • Bishop Animal Shelter - (941) 792-2863 is located at 5718 21st Avenue West, in Bradenton.
[The Humane Societies will scan an animal without a collar to see if there is a microchip.]

You can also place an ad in the Bradenton Herald, their number is (941) 746-7355. Put up signs in your neighborhood about your missing pet in case someone is keeping it for you.

Found a pet!

If you have found a pet, you can take it to Manatee County Animal Services or to Sarasota County Animal Services. They are the county’s shelter where strays are taken. The Bradenton Herald also runs FREE classified ads for found pets, to list one call (941) 746-7355.

Important to Remember:
If you have found a dog or cat and someone calls about it, make sure they give you a full description. Do not give any information out about the animal. Some people get dogs and cats this way to sell to laboratories.
It is also helpful to put up signs in your neighborhood in case it belongs to someone who lives nearby.
